Mark W. Sims

 

Mark W. Sims is an attorney-mediator with offices in downtown Austin, Texas.  Mr. Sims has practiced family law and other civil litigation in Travis and Williamson Counties and in Central Texas for twelve years.  Mr. Sims is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and has Finance and Marketing degrees from the University of Texas School of Business.  He is a Credentialed Distinguished Mediator with the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association and is a member of the College of the State Bar, completing continuing education in family law and mediation subject areas.  Mr. Sims is also a member of the Texas Association of Mediators, the Austin Bar Association, the Williamson County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas.  

 

Mr. Sims has successfully facilitated well over one thousand mediations in family law cases, collaborative law cases, and in other areas of civil litigation.  He has completed the requisite training in basic mediation and family law mediation to facilitate court-ordered family law mediations in the State of Texas.  Mr. Sims regularly attends continuing education seminars in mediation, family law, and collaborative law and he significantly exceeds the annual, continuing legal education training required for practicing attorneys in the State of Texas. 

 

Mr. Sims’ mediation offices, conveniently located in downtown Austin, include a central conference room, numerous breakout rooms, and complimentary parking.  By incorporating computer models with easy to understand visuals and quick calculations, Mr. Sims seeks to empower mediation participants to make informed decisions so that they can work together to arrive at a fair and satisfactory result.  

 

Mr. Sims has given numerous lectures on family law topics, mediation issues, and Collaborative Law at training seminars for attorneys, at other public events, and in the local media.  Mr. Sims regularly speaks and mediation training seminars for attorney and non-attorney mediators.  He volunteers regularly for Legal Aid of Texas, running a pro se clinic regarding family law matters. 

 

Mr. Sims is a fluent Spanish speaker and mediations conducted in Spanish are available upon request.
